the pussycat dolls

i wasn't going to blog about the dolls, but then i fell in love with their single "buttons" and couldn't help myself!! the reason i was initially against this imposter 'pussycat dolls' group, is because as soon as they appeared in the media everyone assumed they were this brand NEW girl-group with their new innovative sound and sexy look...BUT really, the FIRST TRUE and REAL pussycat dolls aren't a band at all...

The Pussycat Dolls, recognized as "L.A.'s hottest cabaret ticket" by People magazine, is a burlesque flavored revue which debuted at Johnny Depp's Viper Room in 1995. Since then it has sold out a series of shows at the Roxy and spiced up such fetes as the Elton John/InStyle Oscar party & Opening act for Janes Addiction.

While attracting such guest performers as Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron, Gwen Stefani, Dita Von Teese, Brittany Murphy and Christina Applegate, it has also lured such star attendees as Dave Navarro, Marilyn Manson, Leo DiCaprio, Heather Graham, David Spade, Gene Simmons and Hugh Hefner.

The Pussycat Dolls are choreographed by top choreographer, Robin Antin & it's performed by a bevy of sultry, dolled-up, cut-and-pasted women headlined by Carmen Electra. Carmen Electra is a hip-shimmying, underwear-sporting member of the 1940s-inspired cabaret dance group the Pussycat Dolls. ... Electra's routines include the 'Big Spender' opening number as well as a duet to Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet' and a sultry cigarette-smoking number set to Henry Mancini's 'Pink Panther' theme.

i don't know if you've ever seen any of their performances, but you should totally check them out. they're HOTT!! 'pussycat' stands for the sexual side of the women, ie the burlesque, hip grinding aspect of the show, and 'doll' stands for the more innocent side to a woman.

THEN this silly little, media-pleasing-aimed-at-prepubescent boys group came out, called themselves "the pussycat dolls" and totally changed/ruined the image that the ORIGINAL dolls had sought out to establish!!! whadupwithat????

not ONE of the original doll girls are in the band...in fact the only thing that the two have in common, is their name!!!

HOWEVER, like i said earlier their work is pretty catchy. "don't cha" was their first, followed by the shitty/mediocre "stickwit you". "beep" is fantastic, and so is "buttons" (such simple titles!!) and they do a killer swanky, sultry, loungish version of "sway" that you just HAVE to download.

so i guess they're not so bad...just in comparaison to the orignal ladies!
